Homemade Pizza Dough

Pizza dough is a key process while you are attempting a pizza. The pizza can vary with its dough texture as soft as bun or as hard as a day old pizza depending upon the water and the right amount of yeast which helps to double the size of the dough. But we need the texture of the dough to be very soft and fluffy so that your pizza will be soft inside and crispy outside.

Recipe:

  • Prep time - 20 mins + 2 hours
Ingredients:
  • Lukewarm water - 1 3/4 cup
  • Instant yeast - 2 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - 1 1/2 tsp or little more.
  • All purpose flour - 4 1/4 cups + Some for dusting
  • Olive oil - 3 1/2 tbsp, divided
  • Yellow corn meal - 1 tsp, for base
Method:
  • Take 2 cups of lukewarm water ( I have added 2 cups of water instead of 1 3/4 cup to make to make the crust chewy) in a bowl. Add instant yeast to the water. Lukewarm water has the temperature of 90 to 105 deg F. Mix well and leave for 5 mins. You can see the bubbles on the surface of  water.
  • Add 2 1/2 tbsp olive oil in. Mix well.
  • In a mixing bowl, add half flour and salt. Mix well. Now add in the yeast mixture.
  • Mix it without lumps. Add in slowly the remaining flour. Combine everything and knead for 8 to 10 mins.
  • In a large bowl, add 1 tbsp olive oil and transfer the dough. Cover with cling sheet and rest for 2 hours.
  • After 2 hours, punch the dough and deflate it. Transfer it to floured countertop and divide the dough into 2 or 4 equal halves.
  • Now the dough is ready to make pizza depending upon the desired size and shape.
  • Follow the pizza recipe after this.
